The Sharp/NEC NC1503L digital cinema projector has been announced. The device has been designed for business use, with an RB laser light source with up to 50,000 hours of life, generating up to 14,000 lumens brightness. The company indicates that the laser requires less maintenance and uses less power than older Xenon lamps.
The NC1503L uses 3-chip DLP Cinema technology and can cast images up to 17 m (~56 ft) wide with a DCI 2K native resolution of 2048 x 1080 px. The picture has a 1,600:1 contrast ratio, and you can perfect the image with motorized zoom, focus and shift tools. Plus, you can connect to the projector via USB 2.0, USB 3.0, HDMI and RJ45 ports. The brand describes the model as quiet, generating less than 50 dB of fan noise.
Sharp also claims its new projector is relatively lightweight, weighing 68 kg (~150 lbs) and measuring 700 x 288 x 812 mm (~27.6 x 11.3 x 32.0). The company notes that the NEC NC1503L can be installed on the floor or ceiling, suggesting uses such as a portable cinema or a small projection booth. The Sharp NEC NC1503L digital cinema projector will go on sale this November; the new model's price remains unclear.
