Sharp NEC announces new NC603L Laser Digital Cinema Projector
Sharp NEC Display has announced the NC603L laser projector, shortly after the NC1503L was unveiled. Both models join the Digital Cinema Projector Series with a native 2,048 x 1,080 resolution, delivering a 2K Digital Cinema Institute (DCI) compliant picture quality.
The NC603L has a blue laser with phosphor, expected to last for 50,000 hours, suited to smaller screen sizes up to 11m (~36.1 ft) wide. The gadget has a maximum brightness of 6,000 lumens and a 1,650:1 contrast resolution. This makes it less powerful than the NC1503L with its RB laser phosphor light source, producing up to 14,000 lumens brightness. For further comparison, the NC1503L is suited to small to medium-sized screens, up to 16.9 m (~55.4 ft) wide, with a 1,600:1 contrast ratio.
Both projectors have an automatic brightness adjustment tool, altering the laser’s power over time for consistent results. Another feature is an internal chiller, which makes the projectors suitable for use in a projection booth or mounted to the ceiling; Sharp suggests that this helps to reduce the cost for cinema owners. Also included are motorized focus, zoom, and horizontal and vertical lens shift. The price and availability of the Sharp NEC NC603L and NC1503L Laser Projectors have yet to be announced.
