Seiko's new Astron GPS Solar 2025 Limited Edition (SSJ037) is now available to purchase on Seiko Singapore. It's a futuristic-looking timepiece inspired by the interior of a spacecraft. Priced at a hefty $2,400, this stainless steel and titanium watch is limited to 1,500 pieces worldwide, with each unit engraved with a serial number on the case back.
The new Astron features Seiko’s 3X62 GPS Solar movement, with high-precision timekeeping and a deviation of just ±15 seconds per month (without GPS signal reception). It connects to GPS satellites for automatic time zone and time adjustment, and includes a power save mode, perpetual calendar (valid until 2100), and overcharge prevention. The power reserve lasts around six months on a full charge, or approximately two years in sleep mode.
The SSJ037 is built with a titanium case and bracelet, incorporating a super-hard coating and aluminum bezel. The watch measures 42 mm in diameter, 12 mm thick, and weighs 107 g. It includes sapphire crystal glass with a super-clear coating, LumiBrite on the hands and indices, and 10-bar water resistance. The dial design, finished in a silvery gradient, showcases three-directional radiating lines meant to represent "zero gravity." Its layered metallic case structure looks like the internals of a spaceship.
The Astron line is pretty key in Seiko’s history, as it was the world’s first quartz watch in 1969 and later became the first GPS solar watch in 2012. The SSJ037 is merely an extension of that legacy, with advanced satellite synchronization and a sleek, industrial design. For collectors, the limited availability and clean aesthetic may be reason enough to act before stocks disappear.
