Schenker launches the XMG DJ 15 laptop for those who want a slim, light machine with all the ports
Do DJs need their own kind of laptop? Schenker asserts that, thanks to the specific software and ASIO drivers involved in this pursuit, they do. Therefore, it has devoted an entire member of its interesting XMG series to filling this niche. The DJ 15 is in fact "specially tailored to the needs of professional DJs", having been optimized to work with the software most relevant to this audience as a result of feedback from those in this industry.
As one might expect from the name, this new laptop is a 15.6-inch model, one with an FHD IPS display and "thin" bezels. However, its main event might lie in its selection of ports. Schenker touts it as a MacBook alternative for its ostensible audience, but one with more than USB type C.
It does indeed boast this port, which also supports Thunderbolt 3 and PD charging, but also has 3 USB-A ports (2 with the USB 3.1 standard and 1 that is 2.0 so as to keep older favored peripherals going); 1 mini DisplayPort; 1 full-size HDMI, 1 full SD card reader; 1 Ethernet port and dual 3.5mm jacks.
The XMG DJ 15 has Intel Core i5-10210U to i7-10510U options, is rated for up to 32GB of DDR4 ram and up to 2TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSDs. It retails on platforms such as Bestware or the XMG websitore in Silver or Red colorways starting at €1220 (~US$1433) from now.
