Schenker has launched its latest laptop, the VIA 15 Pro. Unlike many of the company's laptops, the VIA 15 Pro comes without a dedicated GPU. The laptop is an update on the Schenker VIA 15 that we reviewed earlier this year. The VIA 15 Pro features the same chassis as the VIA 15, but Schenker has included a new motherboard and thermal solution to account for Renoir processors.
The VIA 15 Pro is available with either an AMD Ryzen 5 4600H or a Ryzen 7 4800H, which are both 45 W APUs. Both support Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) and 8 MB of cache, although the Ryzen 5 4600H has six cores to the eight in the Ryzen 7 4800H. The VIA 15 Pro can be configured RAM and SSDs from multiple manufacturers, along with the choice between an Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 or a Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1650X. At the time of writing, the VIA 15 Pro is available with up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and a 2 TB PCIe SSD.
All models come with a 91 Wh battery, two SO-DIMM slots and a single M.2 2280 bay. Additionally, there are three USB ports, a Gigabit Ethernet, one HDMI 2.0 port, a 3.5 mm jack and a microSD card reader. Currently, Schenker only offers the VIA 15 Pro with a 15.6-inch and 1080p IPS panel. The panel has a 60 Hz refresh rate, 100% sRGB colour space coverage and is either a BOE NV156FHM-N67 or an Innolux N156HCE-EN1 Rev.C1. The one in the VIA 15 was a sub-300 nit panel, for reference.
However, the company is open to making a 4K OLED panel if there is sufficient demand. You can let Schenker know if you are interested in purchasing the VIA 15 Pro with a 4K OLED panel by heading to this Google Forms survey.
The VIA 15 Pro measures 356.4 x 233.7 x 16.8 mm and weighs around 1.4 kg. The device starts at €876.33 with a Ryzen 5 4600H, 8 GB of RAM, a 250 GB SSD and will begin shipping at the end of August. According to Schenker, a VIA 15 Pro engineering sample with a Ryzen 7 4800H and 32 GB of RAM achieved the following benchmark scores. Please note that these are for reference only as they may change with future driver updates.
