Xiaomi began the third phase of its MIUI 12 rollout a few weeks ago, and we tipped the Redmi Note 8, Redmi Note 9 Pro, and Redmi Note 9S to be the stars of the show. Well, it appears bliss is at hand for owners of those devices as the MIUI 12 update has now begun hitting the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max in certain regions.
After months of anticipation, the MIUI 12 update has now started arriving for the Redmi Note 8. It's not an update for the global model of the device, however; and is just being sent to the Chinese model. The OTA bears the build number "MIUI 12.0.2.0 QCOCNXM", weighs a hefty 2.3 GB, and delivers both MIUI 12 and Android 10.
As always, now that the update is being rolled out in China, we expect beta stable updates to arrive for other models of the device shortly, with a full rollout likely to follow right after.
MIUI 12 is also rolling out to the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max was only sold in India and is essentially the same device as the global Redmi Note 9 Pro. The update bears the designation "MIUI 12.0.1.0 QJXINXM." and weighs in at 723 MB. Considering the similarities between the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, Redmi Note 9S, and Redmi Note 9 Pro, we expect the latter two to also get the MIUI 12 update shortly.
