Samsung's Galaxy A82 5G will launch soon, as confirmed by the Bluetooth SIG
The Galaxy A80 stood out among its low- to mid-range Samsung siblings thanks to its upward-sliding mechanism that allowed its lone camera array to flip around and thus double as a selfie shooter. Now, there are hints that the OEM is resurrecting its line in 2021 with an A82. According to its latest leak, it might launch with 2019's Qualcomm top-end SoC, the Snapdragon 855.
This choice might seem slightly odd, yet mirrors Samsung's choice of the ex-flagship Exynos 9825 SoC for the Galaxy M62 (or F62 for the Indian market). In any case, the rumor might have more credence now thanks to the Samsung SM-A826S' registration as the Galaxy A82 5G by the Bluetooth SIG.
This new certification also reveals that the upcoming mid-tier Android phone will have Bluetooth 5.0, if little else. Therefore, it is still not clear if the new A8x variant will come with extra moving parts or not. A patent-fuelled rumor does hint at an interesting dual-slider design that deploys a speaker as well as cameras, although nothing like that is certain as yet.
