Samsung launches world's first 1,100Hz gaming monitor

Samsung has just announced its upcoming 2027 lineup of Odyssey gaming monitors at the Gamescom expo, introducing a wave of “world-first innovations” across display speeds, resolutions, and designs.

Leading the pack for sheer speed is the 27-inch Odyssey G6 (model G60H). While Samsung initially teased the IPS-based monitor in December with a 1,040Hz refresh rate, the final launch specs bumps that up to a staggering 1,100Hz. This ultra-fast refresh rate is achievable at 1080p resolution, while its dual-mode capability allows players to switch to a native 1440p resolution and still enjoy a massive 600Hz refresh rate, complete with a 1ms response time.

Alongside the G6, Samsung revealed a major expansion to its Odyssey OLED lineup. The new Odyssey OLED G9 takes center stage as the world’s first 49-inch DQHD gaming monitor equipped with a 360Hz refresh rate. It pushes boundaries with an ultra-fast 0.03ms response time and a peak brightness of up to 1,300 nits. Like the G6, the G9 features dual-mode flexibility, allowing users to switch from its native 5120 x 1440 resolution at 360Hz to an even faster 720Hz when running in a 2560 x 720 dual HD mode.

The new lineup also introduces the 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8, which offers extreme versatility through a triple-mode display. Users can seamlessly switch between UHD at 360Hz, QHD at 520Hz, and FHD at a blazing 680Hz depending on their performance needs.

Rounding out the announcements is the Odyssey OLED G7, noted as the world’s first 42-inch 16:9 curved OLED gaming monitor. It features a 4K resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, and an immersive 1000R curvature that offers significantly more screen real estate than previous 32-inch curved models.

Samsung has stated that the Odyssey G6 will be available globally by the end of 2026, while the new 2027 OLED models will have varied availability depending on the market. Pricing for the new lineup has not yet been announced.

Earlier this month, at the IMID 2026 expo in South Korea, the company also showcased the world’s first 300Hz OLED laptop screen. This 16-inch panel moves past the 240Hz ceiling that laptop OLED has held, allowing upcoming premium gaming laptops to pair OLED contrast with far higher speeds, alongside two new 360Hz QD-OLED desktop monitor panels also revealed at the event.
