Samsung Odyssey G9 gaming monitor released with a 49-inch curved screen, 240Hz HDR10+ QLED panel, and more; will retail at $1,699

Samsung's recently unveiled Odyssey G9 gaming monitor is now available for purchase worldwide. Although it is advertised and specced like a gaming monitor, the Odyssey G9 can double up as a productivity powerhouse thanks to its gargantuan size. It can also be split into multiple screens via software. A VESA mount makes rotation, tilting, and other basic movements possible. Do bear in mind that the monitor curvature of 1000R, so viewing angles will not be ideal. Samsung claims that both the horizontal and vertical viewing angles are 178 degrees, though.

The Samsung Odyssey G9 gaming monitor comes with a 49-inch 240Hz QLED panel with a Dual Quad HD (5120×1440) resolution. It has a pixel response time of 1ms and is compatible with NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. The monitor is also HDR10+ compliant and boasts of 1000 bits peak brightness. Furthermore, it also offers 88% coverage of NTSC color gamut, 125% sRGB coverage, 92% Adobe RGB coverage, and is color calibrated out of the box.

No gaming monitor is complete without gamer-y aesthetic, and the Samsung Odyssey G9 has plenty of it. The included Infinity Core Lighting, allows users to choose between 52 different colors and five lighting effects via the included software. Some of the other features include picture-in-picture mode, game mode, eye saver mode, and more.

The Samsung Odyssey G9 gaming monitor comes with two Display Port 1.4 ports, one HDMI port, and one USB Type-C port. Samsung has thrown in two USB 3.0 ports and one 3.5mm audio jack too. It weighs in at 16.7 kilograms (37lbs) in total. The monitor is available for purchase on Samsung's website for an eye-watering $1,699. It will be up for sale on all e-commerce platforms and retail outlets soon.
