Rumor has it that the upgraded Galaxy Z Flip 5G foldable phone from Samsung should be officially revealed together with the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Fold 2 on August 5. Not too long ago, some leaks already showed that this new model could be powered by the new Snapdragon 865 SoC with 8 GB of RAM. However, new info coming from reliable leaker Digital Chat Station from the Weibo forums claim that the SoC might actually be an improved model.
The Chinese leaker provided some more details about various components,as well. For instance, the foldable screen is supposed to have a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with 2,636 x 1080 resolution, while the smaller secondary screen gets a 1.05-inch display with 300 x 112 resolution. These specs are almost identical to the ones on the non-5G model.
As far as the SoC is concerned, the translated post from Digital Chat Station mentions a Snapdragon 865 Plus model, but we are not entirely sure if this information is accurate, as we have heard that this SoC might not be launched this year. Still, judging by the clock speeds that apparently go up to 3.09 GHz, we might be looking at an overclocked SoC. The leaker claims that the selfie cam has a 12 MP sensor, while the rear camera gets a 12 +10 MP setup, yet they might be confusing the 10 MP from the rear camera with the 12 MP from the selfie cam, since the non-5G model has a 10 MP selfie and a 12 + 12 MP rear cam setup.
Other specs include a 2,500 mAH battery with 704 mAh additional reserves and a 15 W fast charging option, while the unfolded size of 167.3 x 73.6 x 7.2 mm and 183 g weight are unchanged from the non-5G model.
