With only one generation between them, you might think there wouldn't be much difference. But the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra shows significant improvements over its predecessor, particularly in terms of the display. Is that enough to justify a switch?

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra is a nominally cautious but well-thought-out further development of the Tab S10 Ultra. Externally, the most striking feature is the even slimmer and lighter design: at just 5.1 millimetres, the new model is one of the thinnest tablets on the market and weighs around 690 grams. The high-quality aluminium unibody casing remains IP68-certified, offering protection against water and dust.

The brightness of the 14.6-inch AMOLED display with 120 Hz has been significantly improved, reaching peak values of over 1,700 cd/m², which noticeably increases outdoor readability. Technically, Samsung continues to rely on a high-resolution panel with brilliant colours and strong contrasts. And the S11 has twice the PWM frequency of the S10, which can make a difference for sensitive people.

Under the hood, the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ now delivers even higher performance with 12 GB of RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. In everyday use, the tablet impresses with fast response times and stable performance, even when gaming or multitasking. Another positive feature is the slightly larger 11,600 mAh battery, which offers solid battery life and continues to charge at 45 watts. There have also been significant advances in the software: Android 16 with One UI 8.0 brings a revamped DeX mode, Galaxy AI and seven years of updates.

The redesigned S Pen has been made more ergonomic and offers more precise input, but does away with Bluetooth functionality. In addition, its magnetic holder has been moved to the top edge, where it now adheres less securely. This could be a deal-breaker for fans of the old stylus.

The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra (buy here on Amazon) is lighter, brighter and more powerful than its predecessor, but remains evolutionary rather than revolutionary. Those who already own the S10 Ultra will benefit mainly from improvements in detail, but not from fundamental innovations. Only the upgraded display may be a good reason to switch. For newcomers, it offers the best Android tablet experience currently available on the market.
