Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite
Samsung's Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is an exotic: one of the rare 8-inch tablets, available starting at 169 Euros (~$199) and also with LTE for an additional 30 Euros (~$35). The Android-11 tablet is equipped with an eight-core SoC from MediaTek, 32 GB of storage, speakers with Dolby Atmos and a family-friendly Kids Mode. Our test shows what the small Samsung can do.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite Kids Edition is not a bad tablet — it’s a bad kids tablet. There’s really nothing unique or special that it offers for kids or the parents who are managing their kids. This whole product is an afterthought. Do yourself a favor. Save some money, and get the Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids tablet(opens in new tab) ($199), which offers a two-year worry-free warranty, a screen strengthened with aluminosilicate glass, and 1 year of Amazon Kids+. I wasn’t impressed by the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite Kids Edition. It works, but I can think of better ways to spend $250 for my kid.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is a solid choice for people wanting to upsize their Android experience without overspending. It doesn’t boast all of the features or performance numbers of more costly devices, but at $159.99 — and often cheaper on sale — what more can you reasonably ask for? With well-rounded software, premium build materials, a headphone jack, and expandable storage, this budget-oriented tablet will continue to have value even at the end of its long life cycle thanks to Samsung’s excellent long-term update policies. In particular, the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is a great option for younger kids and older folk who are likely to be less put off by the low-res display and weak performance. Samsung Kids is a Samsung-exclusive “kids mode” app that allows you to turn your device into a safe virtual environment and entertainment hub. Furthermore, it doesn’t require a great deal of processing power, meaning the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is a prime candidate to be turned into a dedicated Samsung Kids device.

The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is a good-looking, lightweight tablet offering excellent app support. It wouldn’t be my first choice for streaming movies or taking photos, but it delivers all of the basics at an affordable price.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is an exceptionally portable and surprisingly better than average tablet for Malaysia’s masses. Its large 8.7-inch screen, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage and fairly affordable RM699 price tag makes it almost perfect for students and teachers on a budget. Its size and portability are also great for those looking for a reader or movie streamer but it’s performance makes it only good enough for casual gaming at best. Other contenders in this price range include the Lenovo Tab M8 which has lower tech specs like 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage but for a slightly lower price tag of around RM500 or so. There’s also Samsung’s own 2019 Galaxy Tab A 8.0 for about RM100 less which has 2GB RAM but also has 4G LTE, a feature which would have probably made the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite even more attractive, but the newer tablet is definitely the better overall deal.

So, for the price of RM699 – it’s definitely an entry-level tablet. Yeah, there are lots of cost-cutting to make this price a reality. And yet, it’s still a pretty decent tablet. Good enough for kids attending online classes, and also good enough for my use case, apparently – that’s a topic for another day.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite fulfills what it sets out to do as a budget tablet, offering a modicum of performance and utility in a one-handed form factor that gets the job done. When paired with a wireless keyboard and with its full Google Play access, the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite makes for a fantastic student tablet. A reasonably priced tablet that is a competent performer for its price range with a large screen, decent stereo speakers and sufficient performance that gets the job done for casual use. When paired with a wireless keyboard and full Google Play access, the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite makes for a fantastic student tablet.

Samsung has been pitching the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite as a small, useful Android tablet that's easy on your wallet, and in my experience that's exactly what you get when you buy one. While reading this review, you probably noticed the phrase "good enough" quite a few times, and that's for good reason: if you're looking for a compact Android tablet to browse the Internet, watch videos, or play games on, the Tab A7 Lite is good enough to satisfy your needs. Just don't expect to be blown away by its performance, display quality or battery life. Competing tablets like Microsoft's Surface Go 2 or the 2020 iPad will outperform the A7 Lite on all of these fronts, and while you'll have to pay a few hundred bucks more for them you can often still get either for under $500.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is certainly capable of serving anyone well, but ultimately boils down to your needs in a tablet. It’s affordable, surprisingly solid build quality for the price, the stereo speakers work great, capable of a lengthy standby time, has dual band Wi-Fi support, 4G LTE support, and it’s very convenient to bring around. However, it lacks S Pen support, could use more firepower in terms of performance, cameras aren’t really suitable for taking photos, and the display could use some improvements. At RM699, some of its drawbacks are forgivable given what you’re getting. If you don’t need to do anything intensive, this will definitely serve you well.

Large smartphones and a few small tablets are available for this display size. Unlike most smartphones, you can see more on the screen, more details and use larger resolutions. Such formats are better for people with defective vision. However, such devices are no longer easy to fit in a pocket, and they are probably not quite light either.

Samsung Group employed 489,000 people in 2014 and is one of the world's largest companies in terms of revenue and market strength. The name Samsung means "Three Stars" in Korean and represents the three sons of the company's founder. The company was founded in 1938 as a grocery store. With its subsidiary Samsung Electronics, founded in 1969, Samsung took up the production of electrotechnical items, focusing on consumer electronics and household appliances at an early stage. Other branches in which the large corporation is active include mechanical engineering, automobiles (Hyundai), insurance, wholesale, real estate and leisure. Samsung manufactures a wide range of electronic products, including smartphones, televisions, home appliances and semiconductors. The company's Galaxy line of smartphones is one of the most popular in the world. Samsung is also a major player in the semiconductor industry, making memory chips and processors for many other electronics manufacturers.
70.18%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
