The world's second-largest memory maker, SK hynix, has just unveiled its first Gen 4.0 SSD with a 176-NAND layer, namely the Platinum P41. Just like the existing Platinum SSDs, the Platinum P41 targets gamers and content creators, providing top performance alongside industry-leading endurance.
Without further ado, these are the essential technical details of the SK hynix Platinum P41:
- Form factor and interface: M.2 2280, PCIe NVMe Gen 4.0, up to 4 lanes
- Sequential read/write speed: up to 7,000 MB/s and 6,500 MB/s
- Random read/write speed: up to 1,400K IOPS and 1,300K IOPS
- TBW: up to 1,200 TBW
The Platinum P41 will hit the market later this year (in the first quarter, thankfully) in 500 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB sizes. All models will come with an MTBF of 1,500,000 hours and a 5-year warranty. The TBW value hits 1,200 for the 2 TB version, while the 1 TB gets 750, and the 500 GB gets no less than 500.
The SK hynix Platinum P41 will not replace the existing PCIe NVMe Gold P31 lineup and SATA-interfaced Gold S31 series but will be available alongside them. In a few months, we will test the new Platinum P41 ourselves and share our findings with you, so stay tuned.
