Ring launches new 4K security cameras with battery power for the first time

Ring has launched five new home security cameras, led by four models built on its Retinal Vision 4K imaging and a motorised indoor camera that turns to follow movement. Prices on Amazon’s US store range from $69.99 for the Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam 2K to $219.99 for the Floodlight Cam 4K Plus.
The company describes the range as Ring’s most flexible and complete 4K lineup to date, with each camera offering a wide-angle view and true-colour performance in low light.
The Outdoor Cam 4K Plus starts at $149.99 for the battery version and is also sold in solar, plug-in, hardwired and PoE configurations. Ring says the battery option is a first for its 4K cameras. The camera supports up to 10x Enhanced Zoom, radar-based 3D Motion Detection and a siren that can be triggered from the Ring app.
The Spotlight Cam 4K Plus costs $199.99 in its battery version and offers the same five power options. Its built-in spotlight runs at 330 lumens by default to conserve battery life and can be raised to 550 lumens in the app. The camera ships with one Quick Release Ultra Battery Pack and has room for a second.
The Floodlight Cam 4K Plus is priced at $219.99 and pairs Retinal 4K video with 2,000-lumen motion-activated floodlights. It is a wired unit that supports 24/7 recording, and installation requires a 4-inch round, UL-listed weatherproof junction box.
The Indoor Cam 4K, priced at $99.99, is Ring’s first 4K camera designed for use inside the home. It has a 115-degree field of view, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Auto HDR for high-contrast rooms, and up to 10x Enhanced Zoom. A removable lens cover blocks the camera, the microphone can be switched off in the Ring app, and Amazon also lists a PoE configuration.
The $69.99 Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam 2K targets a common weakness of fixed cameras, which lose sight of people and pets once they move out of frame. Its motorized base offers 360 degrees of pan and 175 degrees of tilt, while Auto Tracking rotates the camera to keep a detected person or pet in view during Live View and recordings. The camera adds up to 6x Enhanced Zoom and a privacy shutter that disables both the camera and the microphone in a single slide.
The new model sits above the 1080p Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam HD, which Amazon continues to sell at $59.99.
The Indoor Cam 4K and Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam 2K went on sale on October 7 in the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, and Sweden, with the pan-tilt model also available in Australia and New Zealand. The Floodlight Cam 4K Plus and Spotlight Cam 4K Plus are on preorder in the same 11 markets, and the Outdoor Cam 4K Plus is on preorder there and in Japan. Amazon’s US listings put the release date for all three outdoor models at October 27.
