Casio unveils three new analog-digital watches with 100 m WR, metallic indexes

Casio has put three new Baby-G watches on its US store; all three are basically the BA-110 under a gloss coat.
The BA110MC-2A is navy, the BA110MC-6A lilac, and the BA110MC-7A white. Each one costs $145. Casio's copy promises "Y2K fashions to Y3K finesse." In practice that means glossy resin instead of the usual matte, with metallic indexes ringing the dial.
The BA-110 gets the same crowded analog-digital face Casio built the GA-110 around, shrunk to fit. This case measures 46.3 x 43.4 x 15.8 mm and weighs 45 g. A GA-110-1A is 55 x 51.2 x 16.9 mm and 72 g. That is 27 g less watch, and the layout survives the trip intact. The band fits wrists from 125 to 180 mm.
There's one tiny oddity in the spec sheet. The minute hand moves every 20 seconds; it steps three times a minute rather than once. It is a small thing you notice on day one and forget by day three.
The rest is a straight Casio spec list. Shock resistance, 100-meter water resistance, world time across 29 zones, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a 24-hour countdown timer, five alarms, a full auto-calendar to 2099, and Neobrite on the hands. The LED is amber and holds an afterglow. Accuracy is plus or minus 30 seconds a month.
What $145 does not get you is sapphire or solar. The glass is mineral, and two SR726W cells run the watch for roughly two years. At this price Casio has spent the money on the finish, not anything else.
