RedMagic has now made its latest global-edition smartphone for 2022 thus far is now official. The 7 Pro can be considered the most premium iteration of the brand's gaming-focused mobile devices yet. It also still has its active 20,000rpm spinning fan as part of its ICE 9.0 cooling system, which has recently helped propel it and its Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset to the top of the AnTuTu charts.
The 7 Pro also still has its dual shoulder triggers with a 500Hz touch-sampling rate, not to mention RedMagic's inaugural UDC screen. The brand has also equipped its new global units with its first-gen Red Core 1 auxiliary chipset. On the other hand, the flagship phone has had to make some compromises in order to ship outside of China.
For example, some RedMagic fans may have hoped that another 7-series upgrade, that of 165W charging using a custom gallium nitride power brick, might have made it to the SKUs coming to their region. Unfortunately, this is not the case, although the 7 Pro Global Edition's 65W spec remains appreciably speedy - and the necessary charger comes in the box, too.
In addition, the Pro's highest-end 18GB RAM/1TB configuration has not made it onto RedMagic's international web-stores (although it does make sure to bring NFC, Bluetooth 5.2 and a 3.5mm jack to the premium smartphone market).
Instead, the brand has prepared 2 different options: Obsidian, with a rear panel featuring RGB-enabled accents and a logo, and Supernova, which looks most like the 7 Pro's original Deuterium Blade transparent colorway.
Both styles have 16GB of RAM, although the Obsidian has 256GB of internal storage while Supernova has 512GB. They are priced at US$799/€799/£679 and $899/€899/£759 respectively, and will be available to order from April 27, 2022. RedMagic has also mentioned the possibility of early-bird offers for those who visit its website on April 22.
