Nubia confirmed that its upcoming RedMagic 8 Pro would be one of the many smartphones to use Qualcomm's shiny new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Subsequent 3C and Bluetooth SIG listings confirmed its model number (NX729J) and fast charging wattage (up to 165 Watts). Now, Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station (via @Stufflistings on Twitter) has shed light on some more specifications of the gaming smartphone.
The RedMagic 8 Pro will keep its predecessor's (RedMagic 7s Pro) 6.8-inch OLED screen. Digital Chat Station says it will be flat with narrow bezels. The screen's refresh rate is unknown, but it will likely be capped at 120 Hz to accommodate the 16 MP under-display selfie camera, another component carried forward from its previous-generation sibling. The smartphone could ship with a 5,000 or 6,000 mAh battery in a dual-cell configuration.
Other RedMagic 8 Pro specs include a 50 MP primary camera sensor accompanied by an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2 MP macro/depth sensor. The new camera sensor is a welcome update but won't matter much because the marketing will heavily focus on other gaming-centric aspects, such as its cooling fan, heat dissipation tech and haptic buttons. Teasers about the aforementioned features should start showing up as the RedMagic 8 Pro's Q1 2023 launch date approaches.
