Realme launches Harry Potter-themed phone with a Hogwarts crest that appears under UV light

Following its initial release earlier this year, the realme 16 Pro lineup has expanded with the launch of the realme 16 Pro Harry Potter Edition. While retaining the internal hardware of the standard model, this co-branded edition introduces several exterior modifications.

The device features a brown, leather-textured finish designed to reflect the collegiate aesthetics of Hogwarts. The rear camera module has been redesigned to resemble the eyes of the owl Hedwig, and the mid-frame includes a laser-engraved "Welcome to Hogwarts" inscription. Additionally, the rear panel incorporates light-sensing color-changing technology that reveals the four colors of the Hogwarts crest when exposed to sunlight or UV light.

The smartphone is packaged in a custom gift box designed as a 1:1 replica of Harry Potter's iconic trunk. This collector's set includes a variety of themed merchandise alongside the device itself. The trunk contains an acceptance letter and a Platform 9¾ train ticket, along with a character postcard, a bookmark, a customized phone case, and a phone pin.

Also debuting with the phone are the realme Buds T500 Pro Harry Potter Edition. These buds feature 12.4mm drivers and 50dB noise cancellation, housed in an ultra-mini charging case with an attached lanyard. On the software side, the device runs realme UI 7.0 with a fully customized interface.

This includes Harry Potter-themed wallpapers, redesigned icons, and specific animations for booting, charging, unlocking, and GT Mode. Furthermore, the camera application features watermarks based on the four Hogwarts houses, and the operating system contains over ten hidden Easter eggs.

For the internals, the realme 16 Pro Harry Potter Edition shares all the specs with the original realme 16 Pro. It measures 8.47 mm in thickness, weighs 198 grams, and is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Max 5G chipset. The device uses a 7000mAh battery that supports 80W charging.

It is equipped with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display featuring a 1272 by 2772 resolution, a high brightness mode of 1400 nits, and variable refresh rates up to 144Hz. The camera system consists of a 200MP main sensor with dual-axis optical and electronic image stabilization, accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide camera with a 112-degree field of view. A 50MP front-facing camera handles self-portraits, and the device supports 4K video recording at 30 frames per second. 

The phone is available at a starting price of ₹62,999 (approximately $650) and is offered only with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
