Realme Watch S5 launches for the equivalent of $84 with 16-day runtime
The latest smartwatch from Realme packs a round 1.43-inch AMOLED display into a body that offers an unusual look thanks to its flat frame and strikingly designed buttons. The 11.8 millimeter thick, 32 gram smartwatch is waterproof to 5 ATM and can therefore also be worn while swimming.
The round AMOLED display achieves a brightness of 1,500 nits and a frame rate of 60 Hz. If the always-on display is activated, the display remains switched on at all times, although this reduces the battery life from 16 days to just five days. The display also supports a night vision mode in which content is shown in red. One of the three buttons on the side directly activates Google Gemini so that conversations with Google's AI chatbot can be held directly from the wrist
The Realme Watch S5 offers a heart rate and SpO2 sensor and can also track sleep, stress, the female cycle and 110 types of sport. The integrated GPS module records the distance covered while running or cycling. Compared to many more expensive smartwatches, the Realme Watch S5 not only lacks an ECG and a skin temperature sensor, but also an NFC chip, meaning that the watch cannot be used for contactless payment.
Pricing and availability
The Realme Watch S5 will first be launched in India, where the smartwatch will be available for INR 7,999 ($84). Realme has not yet confirmed any details about the international launch. The older, rectangular Realme Watch 5 was also sold internationally.
