Limited edition Realme Neo 8 appears online, but it might never be released

Back in January, the Realme Neo 8 launched in China as a new “flagship killer” smartphone with some impressive specifications. When it was announced, it was available in three colors — Cyber Purple, Mecha Grey, and Origin White. Now, a special edition colorway has surfaced, and there's a chance it will never be released.

The new color is officially known as the Realme Neo 8 Sanxingdui Limited Edition, and it was supposed to launch in January alongside the other colors, but was postponed due to limited inventory. Realme even shared a teaser showing the retail box and a January 22 launch date.

Unfortunately, now that Realme has put a pause on its business in China, this version of the Realme Neo 8 will most likely never be launched considering the smartphone isn't available in the other markets Realme still operates in. Nevertheless, a former Realme product manager, Conda Leo, shared what the phone looks like on Weibo. While the post has now been deleted, there are several reuploads online.

As seen in the image, the Realme Neo 8 Sanxingdui Limited Edition is green with a transparent design like the other three colors. However, it features a gold circuit design under the glass back. Even the Realme logo at the bottom is written in the same gold color. According to Conda Leo, who has now moved to Oppo, he decided to keep this demo unit of the Realme Neo 8 and the Realme GT 8 Pro next to it from the stash of Realme devices he had to return.

It is not known how many units of this version of the Realme Neo 8 was manufactured, but we won't be surprised if some eventually end up online for sale, albeit at a higher price than expected. Not only because this is a special edition, but also because the Neo 8 won't be getting a successor.
