Realme spread its GT 7-series releases throughout 2025 following the release of the highest-end GT 7 Pro (now available in Europe for €649 on Amazon) in November 2024. By contrast, the OEM is now projected to launch 2 members of the next generation on the same date in October 2025.
The significance of that launch window as predicted by the famous leaker Digital Chat Station might be that 1 of them might be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, which might be introduced as Qualcomm's most powerful mobile chipset in September.
The GT 8 Pro is now backed to be Realme's most competitive flagship smartphone to date, posing a genuine challenge to other devices such as the Xiaomi 16 Pro, OnePlus 15 and possibly even the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra in terms of display, rear cameras and battery capacity.
The GT 8 might not be so lucky, as there are now strong hints that it might have to make do with a different SoC, perhaps the last-gen Snapdragon 8 Elite or the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 at best.
That might be a deliberate move on Realme's part, so as to offer a flagship killer alongside a flagship to maximize sales: the OnePlus 13R to the GT 8 Pro's 13.
The GT 8 and 8 Pro are slated to follow a series that has reportedly scored at least some critical and commercial wins, particularly with its most recent release: a special edition in Aston Martin Dream Green. It will be interesting to see if its successors can produce more hits in 2025 or 2026.
