Rainbow Six Mobile gets new ranked overhaul and monthly content cycle

Ubisoft Nova has detailed sweeping changes coming to Rainbow Six Mobile, including a new Legendary ranked tier, monthly Operations, and a Site and Spawn Selection system.
Around two months after its global launch on February 23, 2026, Ubisoft Nova has published its April Dev Brief for Rainbow Six Mobile, providing a clearer picture of where the tactical shooter is headed. The update covers the seasonal content plans, a major ranked overhaul, matchmaking improvements, and several new gameplay systems arriving next season.
Monthly Operations
Rainbow Six Mobile is moving to a monthly content cycle. Each Operation will bring a new Operator, a unique seasonal theme, a new Battle Pass, and new gameplay experiences. Every second Operation will include a major Protocol Event, offering a dedicated game mode, a themed or reworked map, special missions, and a free event progression track with currency and packs. The next Protocol Event is already planned for June.
Ranked overhaul
Ranked mode is getting its most significant changes yet. Seasons will now span two Operations rather than one, with each season featuring a Ranked Event that includes an exclusive Operator skin and new seasonal ladder rewards. The rank reset is also changing. Players ranked above Gold will reset to Gold. Players ranked Gold and below will keep their rank.
Ranked is getting a two-tier split. Regular Ranked runs from Unranked to Silver and is built for newer players, with an easier progression curve and better onboarding. Legendary Ranked picks up from Gold to Master, where skill-based matchmaking takes priority, and the competition is noticeably tighter.
Matchmaking has been a sore spot since launch. Ubisoft Nova admitted as much in the brief, citing full squads against solo players, off-peak queues that stretch the rank pool too wide, and extreme rank gaps that create uneven games. Next season brings weekly adjustments based on live data, smarter MMR weighting, and better playlist options for players still finding their footing.
New features
Site and Spawn Selection is coming next season. Attackers will be able to choose their spawn location before each round, while defenders vote on which objective site to play. Won objectives are automatically removed from the next vote. A Ping Wheel is also in development, adding warning pings, quick feedback options, and basic strategic callouts for players who prefer not to use voice chat. 120 FPS support is also confirmed for next season.
If the Rainbow Six Mobile roadmap has you thinking about which mobile shooters are worth your time, it is worth noting that not every franchise made it this far. Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile shut down permanently on April 17, 2026, after failing to connect with mobile-first players the way its PC and console counterparts had.
