It’s a new year, and with a new year will come new smartphones. One that everyone has their eye on is HMD’s Nokia 9 PureView, and with good reason. Yesterday, leaked images highlighted the phone’s unique penta-lens camera setup. Today, a new promo video (below) obtained by MySmartPrice has unveiled the internal specifications. If these specs hold true, the Nokia 9 will be an interesting blend of the past year and the future.
Here are the specifications revealed in the promo video:
- SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
- RAM: 6 GB
- Storage: 128 GB (microSD expansion currently unknown)
- Display: 5.99-inch 2880x1440 (18:9 aspect ratio) PureDisplay, HDR10 compliant
The video also confirms an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is a trend sure to catch on with most smartphones this year. The Nokia 9 PureView will be an Android One device, meaning that Google will support the device for at least two years with software and security updates. That also means the Nokia 9 PureView will come with a bevy of Google goodies, including free unlimited storage with Google Photos.
Then there are the cameras. We reported on the leaked image showing off the five camera setup yesterday. The promo video released today gives a bit more detail on just what the penta-lens array can do. Designed with ZEISS Optics, the five cameras can work together to capture up to 10 times more light, possibly fixing one of the weakest points of smartphone cameras. The video also touts that the Nokia 9 will have the ability to re-focus images in post using Google Photos. Lastly, the camera matrix will allow users to snap 5 photos at the same time.
Keep in mind that this promo video may just be a rumor and the final release may differ from what we’re seeing here. That said, both the leaked images and the promo video come from reliable sources, so there’s a good chance that the Nokia 9 PureView will be the same phone in the video. We’ll know for certain when the Nokia 9 PureView is officially announced; currently, speculation pegs the official unveiling later this month ahead of MWC 2019.
