Powkiddy is now selling its X55 gaming handheld directly, just over a month after Mechdiy started offering the device on its website. Initially, the latter sold for Powkiddy X55 for US$149.99, although it has now dropped the device's price by US$10. While Powkiddy only stocks the X55 in the sole blue colourway in which it was already available, the company sells the gaming handheld for significantly less than Mechdiy.
To recap, Powkiddy bases the X55 on the Rockchip RK3566 SoC, which contains four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and a Mali-G52 GPU. Additionally, the Powkiddy X55 has 2 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and dual MicroSD card readers. Moreover, Powkiddy includes a 4,000 mAh battery for up to 4 hours of playtime. For reference, the Powkiddy X55 has a 5.5-inch IPS display, as its name suggests. According to the manufacturer, the display operates natively at 1,280 x 720 pixels; alternatively, games can be played on an external monitor via the device's HDMI port.
The Powkiddy X55 starts at US$89.99 with a 16 GB MicroSD card included for its Linux-based OS. The gaming handheld supports up to 256 GB MicroSD cards in its second MicroSD card slot, for which Powkiddy sells 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB options for US$94.99, US$99.99 and US$109.99, respectively.
