Powkiddy X55: New 5.5-inch gaming handheld launches for under US$150
Powkiddy is on a run of releasing new retro gaming hardware of late. While the company took a break over Christmas, it returned last month with the RK2023 and Y6, a 3.5-inch gaming handheld and a TV stick, respectively. Now, the company has introduced the X55, which measures 212.5 x 94.5 19 mm and weighs 293 g.
According to Powkiddy, the X55 has a 5.5-inch IPS display coupled with a Rockchip RK3566 chipset, 2 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 16 GB of storage. For reference, the Rockchip RK3566 has four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and an ARM Mali-G52 GPU. While this combination is not particularly powerful, it should handle many retro games on its 720p display.
Additionally, the gaming handheld features a 4,000 mAh battery that is rated for up to 4 hours of use between charges. Powkiddy has also included numerous gamepad buttons and Nintendo's ABXY layout. As the images below show, the X55 has HDMI and USB Type-C ports too, as well as twin MicroSD cards. The Powkiddy X55 is orderable now for US$139.99 with a 64 GB MicroSD card. Alternatively, the gaming handheld is orderable with 128 GB or 256 GB MicroSD cards for US$149.99 and US$169.99, respectively. Pre-orders should start shipping on May 10.
