Geekbench leaks show the Pixel 11 Pro XL's Tensor G6 GPU outperforming the Tensor G5 by a huge margin while still lagging behind Qualcomm's flagship GPUs.

The PowerVR CXTP-48-1536 GPU inside the Pixel 11 Pro XL has finally surfaced on Geekbench Compute, shortly after the CPU result was published, giving us our first real look at how Google's new-but-older GPU hardware actually performs.

The Pixel 11 Pro XL on Geekbench Compute

Paired with 16 GB of RAM, the phone scored 7,757 in the Geekbench Compute OpenGL test, with the GPU running at 1,286 MHz. This puts it nearly 80% ahead of the Tensor G5's PowerVR DXT-48-1536 GPU, which scored a modest 4,315 points in Pixel 10 testing.

However, that dramatic generational jump requires some context. Early Pixel 10 units suffered from unoptimized drivers that artificially reduced their initial Geekbench scores. A significant portion of the Tensor G6's performance boost likely comes from Google optimizing its drivers ahead of launch.

Comparing the Tensor G6 with Qualcomm's flagship offerings shows that Google still lags far behind in raw graphics performance. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5's Adreno 840 GPU delivers roughly three times the performance in our tests, keeping the Pixel series firmly behind in peak GPU throughput. Note that the Tensor G6 runs this benchmark via ANGLE, a translation layer that converts OpenGL ES calls to Vulkan on the fly, whereas Qualcomm devices execute OpenGL ES calls natively. Although ANGLE imposes an unavoidable translation penalty on the Tensor G6, the massive performance deficit makes it clear that Google's weaker GPU hardware remains the primary bottleneck.

As always, pre-release benchmark results should be treated cautiously, as finalized software may improve performance prior to launch.
