The Philips Hue Bridge has received a new software update. Version 1964061010 was released at the end of April and follows version 1963171020 in late March, sorting out an issue with DNS configuration. The newest software brings several improvements to the smart home gadget.
First in the release notes is a bug fix for a problem where non-Hue smart lights could not connect to the Hue Bridge. The company noted that this would only happen in “rare cases” and did not note any particular brand or model associated with the issue. Time zone and Daylight Saving Time settings are said to have been updated. Plus, as with all releases for the Hue Bridge, it has been noted that the performance and reliability of the device have been enhanced.
The update should be automatically pushed to the Hue Bridge, assuming you have this enabled under Settings > Software update. Earlier this year, Signify announced on the Philips Hue website that it was improving smart lighting controls for users with multiple Hue Bridges. The update will remove the need to switch between the hubs to control the linked devices, allowing you to control more lights simultaneously. However, it is unclear when this upgrade will arrive.
