Peak disappointment: New OTA update will leave Sprint LG V40 users fuming
LG is almost synonymous with awful software update delivery and that trend has continued with the company's last-gen flagship, the LG V40. Users of the Sprint model V40 received a notification of a pending OTA update a few hours ago and may have opened it with high hopes, only to get massively disappointed.
While other models of the LG V40 have all received the update to Android Pie, the Sprint model, for some unknown reason, remains on Android Oreo. That's shambolic, considering the V40 is barely a year old, and Android 10 is already rolling out to flagships launched in the same period, like the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and OnePlus 6T.
I daily-drive a V40, so this is all quite a bit annoying to me. You can read more about my frustrations here.
The new update is a simple security patch for October. Prior to this, the last update the Sprint V40 received was the August security patch. The update weighs in at 199.25 MB.
No one knows why the Sprint model of the V40 is yet to receive Pie. More than anything, it's likely an issue from Sprint's end, not LG's. It's still a tad embarrassing, though. This is fine, though; Life's Good.
