Can pigs fly? Maybe, if recent developments are anything to go by. Completely unexpectedly, LG has now sent out the stable Android 10 update to some owners of the G8 ThinQ in the US. Previous performances in this department considered, this is nigh-miraculous.

LG has an awful reputation with major software updates—and rightfully so, as the company has consistently failed to provide updates on time even to its flagship phones. It wasn't until last month, for example, that some V40 ThinQ units finally received the Pie update. As such, one would expect the company to be among the last of the lot to send out the Android 10 update. The reality of the matter appears to be different.

Owners of the LG G8 ThinQ are confirming receipt of the stable Android 10 update in the US. What's even more bizarre is the fact that the update has only hit the Sprint model of the phone, ahead of other carrier models. That's shocking, as Sprint is typically the last to get updates.

The update weighs in at a petite 1.96 GB, and brings all the regular features that come with Android 10.

It's almost amazing that an LG device is already receiving the Android 10 update. The Samsung Galaxy S10 phones only got the update just over two weeks ago in the US, for some perspective. We could be looking at an upturn in LG's software update form—a much welcome change.

It's unknown when older flagships like the V40 ThinQ and G7 ThinQ will get the update but we don't expect anything for those phones until Q2.
