Almost two years after the phone was launched, owners of the Sprint model LG G7 ThinQ are finally receiving their first OS update. The Android Pie update is now rolling out to the phone, with Android 10 lingering on the horizon already.

LG's OS update policy is bad enough as it is, so it's even more annoying to see carriers delay updates further. That was the case for Sprint with the V40 ThinQ, as Sprint V40 ThinQ models received Pie almost six months after others. The G7 ThinQ got a similar treatment, but the Sprint model is now receiving the Android Pie update.

The update weighs in at a lithe 1.47 GB and, if the V40 ThinQ's update is anything to go by, brings a few new UI re-jiggles, Screen Recorder, Dual App, and all the typical Android Pie features.

Owners of the Sprint LG G7 ThinQ getting their first OS almost two years after their phones were released has to be an archetypal LG situation. Thankfully, the company looks to be getting better in that regard. Both the LG G8 ThinQ and V50 ThinQ have received the Android 10 update in the US. The company has also sent out the Android 10 beta to G7 ThinQ owners, albeit that's exclusive to South Korean models of the phone.
