It has been rumored that there will be a God of War sequel available for the PS5 by the second half of 2021. Considering the success of 2018’s PS4 exclusive God of War this is hardly a surprise, although fans can expect a graphical treat. Video game designer Mark Cerny is allegedly working on a franchise revival for the PlayStation 5.

Tom from YouTube channel Moore’s Law Is Dead has been offering up numerous PS5-related rumors lately, and part of one of his recent video clips focused on games for the upcoming next-gen console. The YouTuber started off with the exciting news that the sequel to God of War (2018) could be launched by fall 2021. God of War, which was a PS4 exclusive title, was an incredible smash hit that enjoyed sales of over 10 million units in just over a year of release.

It makes sense for Sony Interactive Entertainment to work hard on a sequel as a PS5 exclusive God of War title should also sell in the millions, presuming it lives up to its predecessor in terms of graphics and gameplay. However, according to the source mentioned above, the game will feature “photorealistic graphics”, so it should be worth the wait for future PS5 owners. It’s already been confirmed that Kratos will be making another appearance in a God of War title, with a future installment possibly being based in Egyptian or Mayan mythology.

As if the potential of a God of War sequel and PS5 exclusive wasn’t enough to whet the appetite, there’s also a rumor that Sony is working on a surprise franchise revival for the next-gen console, with none other than Mark Cerny orchestrating proceedings. Unsurprisingly, this has sparked speculation about what title could be making a fresh appearance on the PlayStation 5, with Jak and Daxter, Metal Gear Solid, and Twisted Metal all being put forward as contenders. As long as it’s not a Knack revival, it should be fine whatever franchise title is eventually announced.
