God of War 2018 could get a PC port this year
Is the PS5 really that inferior compared to Xbox Series X? Judging by the specs, sure, the Microsoft console seems to have the raw power advantage, but PS5 is not too far behind. If specs were really the deciding factor, the PC master race would have rendered consoles obsolete even before the launch of PS4 and Xbox One. Nevertheless, consoles are still a thing thanks to the exclusive games that each platform brings. When it comes to a solid game catalog, Sony has proved superiority time and time again, especially due to exclusives like God of War. PS5 will make no exception in this case, as the initial game roster should include quite a few hot exclusives, but, as Sony will be shifting focus to the new console, we could actually see more and more PS4 exclusives getting ported to PC, including the highly acclaimed God of War 2018.
The guys over at DualShockers recently discovered that God of War 2018 is now missing the “only on PlayStation” label on the official web page, suggesting that a PC port announcement could be imminent. The label part might not actually represent enough proof, but we already have a precedent with Death Stranding that lost the label later last year and now we know the game is coming to PC this summer. Horizon: Zero Dawn is yet another game that will come to PC later this year, plus Sony already ported Detroit: Become Human in December 2019, so we may be looking at a trend here.
Is this temporary exclusivity signaling a new business model for Sony? The demand for more quality AAA games on PC is clearly there, so Sony could easily boost its profits with a short list of hugely successful PS games that would only be exclusives for 1-2 years on the PS consoles.
