The Osmo Mobile 8 has arrived globally with two key changes from the Osmo Mobile 7P. On the one hand, DJI's smartphone camera gimbal can now pan 360° as needed. On the other hand, the series finally supports Apple DockKit support for subject tracking on iPhones too.

DJI has now released its latest smartphone camera gimbal globally after presenting the same device last month in China. For reference, today's launch relates to its 'in tune with every move' teaser rather than its more recent 'square up, nail the move' event hint. As expected, the Osmo Mobile 8 builds on the Osmo Mobile 7P (curr. $129 on Amazon) rather than the Osmo Mobile 7 that DJI launched simultaneously earlier this year.

To that end, DJI has finished the Osmo Mobile 8 in a dark grey rather than beige or white of many older Osmo Mobile generations. Additionally, the Osmo Mobile 8 matches the Osmo Mobile 7P with 190 x 95 x 46 mm dimensions or 288 x 107 x 96 mm when unfolded. However, the new camera stabiliser weighs 2 g more than its predecessor at 370 g.

While a minor change, it seemingly corresponds with DJI adding a swivel axis that can pan 360°. As a result, the Osmo Mobile 8 should be capable of capturing panoramic photos or videos from any angle, unlike its predecessors. Moreover, DJI has added Apple DockKit support to provide subject tracking support with iPhones. Subject tracking on Android smartphones remains too.

The Osmo Mobile 8 is also compatible with DJI's Mic Mini, Mic 2 and Mic 3 wireless microphones. On top of that, the smartphone camera gimbal is compatible with gesture controls via DJI's Osmo Mobile Multifunctional Module. The Osmo Mobile 8 is available to order today globally from €159 in the Eurozone. Please see DJI's website for more details.
