Motorola has expanded its Moto G series with two new smartphones today. On the one hand, the company has presented a new Moto G Play, full details of which we have covered separately. On the other hand, it has also updated the Moto G with a 2026, replacing the Moto G (2025) less than a year after its initial debut (curr. $174.99 on Amazon).
Unsurprisingly, not much has changed in ten months for the Moto G. For instance, the 6.7-inch, 720p and 120 Hz IPS display from the 2025 edition remains. So does MediaTek's Dimensity 6300, a 6 nm chipset packing two ARM Cortex-A76 performance cores with six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores and a Mali-G57 MP2 GPU. However, these components are now complemented by a 5,200 mAh battery for a 200 mAh bump on the 2025 edition.
Conversely, 30 W wired charging with no wireless charging support returns, as does a 50 MP and f/1.8 primary camera joined by a 2 MP macro rear-facing sensor. Motorola has swapped the 16 MP front-facing for a 32 MP equivalent though, albeit with an unchanged f/2.4 aperture. Also, Motorola guarantees two major OS updates from Android 16, rather than Android 15, as with the Moto G (2025).
The Moto G (2026) will be available to order from Motorola directly on December 11 for $199.99 in the US. Likewise, the device will be available via network carriers from the same date. In comparison, Amazon, Best Buy and other major retailers will not receive the smartphone until January 15. Please see Motorola's website for more details.
