The Huskylens 2 is a new camera that sports a built-in NPU. Therefore, this system can directly take advantage of machine learning, no cloud services or additional devices are needed. Possible use cases include gesture or face recognition, or identifying unsafe operating conditions or hazards.
According to the manufacturer, this gadget should be easy to use. It supports 20 AI models, such as face recognition and object detection or classification. The Huskylens 2 can also be mounted on a robot in order to detect the color of a traffic light. It supports I2C and UART.
Local AI acceleration
The AI camera is powered by a Kendryte K230 SoC with 6 TOPS of AI performance. That’s a relatively modest amount of performance compared to the NPUs found in current AMD and Intel APUs or dedicated GPUs. It comes with 1GB LPDDR4 RAM and 8GB eMMC storage. The image sensor captures 60 frames per second at 2 megapixels.
Touchscreen onboard
As mentioned above, users don’t need a computer to use the Huskylens 2. Instead, the camera has a 2.4-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. It also features a microphone and a 1-watt speaker. Power consumption ranges from 1.5 to 3 watts and is supplied via USB Type-C. An SD card slot is available as well. The Huskylens 2 officially retails for $75.
