The Express 1M2 is one of the coolest external SSDs around due to its heatsink-like design. The USB4 accessory is rated for speeds of over 3,000 megabytes per second (MB/s) when combined with an OWC Aura SSD of up to 8TB in capacity, although the enclosure is also compatible with a variety of other drives. It is part of the OEM's ongoing May the 4th 2025 sale.

The Express 1M2 might gel with some Mac-based desktop set-ups with its unpainted "aircraft grade" aluminum chassis - although PC-building enthusiasts might like to have it around too to see if anyone asks why their heat-fins are on the outside.

It can be ordered with OWC's own-brand Aura SSDs, rated for "real-world" speeds of up to 3,189MB/s with a Mac with any (M1-M4) Apple Silicon platform - or for up to 3,836MB/s with any other USB4/Thunderbolt 4-capable PC.

It comes with a 40 gigabit per second (Gb/s) cable for its single USB-C port and its own screwdriver.

A pre-built Express 1M2 can be ordered in 1TB, 2TB or 8TB configurations, which are discounted to $199.99 (or $30 off), $349.99 (-$50) or 1,098.99 (-$100) right now with OWC's May the 4th promotional savings.

The enclosure, which can fit M.2 2230 and M.2 2242 SSDs as well as the M.2 2280 form-factor of the Aura drives, can also be bought as a bare-bones accessory priced at $99.99 (-$20) during the sale, which also features $29 off the OEM's 5-port Thunderbolt 4 dock.

Then again, the same accessory is even cheaper at $94.99 on Amazon right now.
