OM System OM-3 retro micro four thirds camera leaks
More details about the upcoming OM System OM-3 M4/3 camera have leaked, confirming
The latest rumours about the new OM System OM-3 compact retro camera claim to confirm that the upcoming camera will feature practically the same internals as the OM-1. We also have a rumoured announcement date.

Last week, we reported on the upcoming OM System OM-3, which looks to be a compact form factor retro-style Micro Four Thirds camera coming sometime in 2025. Now, new rumours out of 43addict claim to confirm the specifications for the new M4/3 camera, as well as provide a release date.

According to the rumours, and as we speculated previously, the OM System OM-3 will feature the same 20.4 MP M4/3 sensor as the OM-1 (curr. $1,399.99 on Amazon) on and OM-1 II (curr. $2,399.99 on Amazon). While it's unclear whether the new camera will have the same AI-powered features of the OM-1 II, the hardware in the OM-1 is known to be flagship-tier.

As for pricing, the OM-3 will seemingly launch at around $1,500, which is significantly less than the OM-1 II and around the same price the OM-1 can be found for frequently. Rumours also suggest the official launch will come at Japan's CP+ camera show, which is slated to run from February 27 to March 2.

The OM System OM-3 will also supposedly be taking a page out of Fujifilm and Panasonic's books, with dedicated colour modes for video, similar to both the film simulations in Fujifilm cameras and the LUT Library feature of the Panasonic Lumix S9.

A Micro Four Thirds camera with flagship features and a reasonable, albeit still somewhat high, price could be exactly what the system needs to reinvigorate it after a long period of stagnation. The features of the OM-3, as we have them so far, could also make it a pretty stellar hybrid camera for both photography and video duty, and the compact form factor would go a long way to earning favour with the M4/3 community.
