With all the delays and availability problems affecting the Nvidia’s RTX 5000 mobile series, the launch of the entry-level RTX 5050 dGPU remained shrouded in mystery ever since it was unofficially revealed at CES 2025 earlier this year. According to listings coming from Laptops Direct and cited by Videocardz, it looks like notebooks equipped with the RTX 5050 could be close to launch, as Lenovo already provided specs and pricing for LOQ and Legion 5 models that are expected to start shipping in three weeks.
Videocardz suggests that the official RTX 5050 launch could coincide with the on-shelf availability for the desktop RTX 5060 cards, even though Nvidia has not yet acknowledged the existence of such an SKU. Meanwhile, the UK retailer removed the two models from its search results.
The Laptops Direct listings show UK prices that most likely include European import taxes so they may not actually reflect US prices. As such, the LOQ also featuring an Intel i5-13450HX CPU is listed for £1,150 (~$1,430) while the Legion 5 equipped with an i7-13650HX can be pre-ordered for £1,350 (~$1,680). When it comes to the US market, retailers are supposed to sell the RTX 5050 laptops at $1,100 and under, since the RTX 5060 laptops retail for at most $1,300 currently.
Looking over the specs provided by Lenovo, the RTX 5050 is now confirmed to integrate 8 GB VRAM, which is 2 GB more than the previous-gen RTX 4050. No other specs have been confirmed as of yet, but Videocardz reports that this SKU is most likely based on the GB207 model with 20 Streaming Multiprocessors and could end up being limited to GDDR6 128 bit memory.
