The next generation of EA Sports’ Formula 1 game, F1 25, is launching on May 30 and it is shaping up to be a demanding title. The game will include latest graphical technologies like path tracing and those who want to experience it at its fullest will need a beefy gaming rig. The detailed requirements for F1 25 on PC have been shared and though you can get away with a 12th gen Core i5, the GPU will need to be an RTX 5080 or RX 7900 XTX if you want the best visual fidelity.
Those looking to play F1 25 without any ray tracing, just using the ‘High’ preset can do so with a fairly mediocre build. With a Core i5-9600K or a Ryzen 5 2600X coupled with either an RTX 2070/ RTX 5060 or a Radeon RX 6600 XT, a full-HD 60 FPS experience can be had, aided with native upscaling and no frame generation. However, if you want to take it up a notch and play at 1440p, an RTX 5070 Ti or an RX 6800 XT will be required. This is still without any ray tracing.
More interestingly, to experience path tracing, which F1 25 supports, you will need a 12600K or a Ryzen 5 7600X paired with either an RTX 5080 or an RX 7900 XTX. This will only run the game at 1080p 60 FPS and you will still need an upscaler that is set to Quality. It will be on the highest in game preset but still at only 1080p.
The requirements also include VR and 8K specs. For a VR experience that is rendering 2K per eye at 90 FPS, with the 'High' preset, a Ryzen 5 2600X paired with an RTX 5080/ RTX 3080 Ti or an RTX 7900 XT is required. This is without any ray tracing and native upscaling. For the small segment of gamers wanting to play the game at 8K, they will need either a 12600K or a 7600X paired with an RTX 5090 or an RTX 4090. An AMD GPU will not suffice. Even with these top end Nvidia GPUs, upscaling with frame generation will be required.
FI 25 comes in two editions, an Iconic and a Standard Edition. The Iconic will be available earlier on May 27 while the Standard will arrive on May 30 for most parts of the world. It is available for pre-order at $80 for the Standard and $100 for the Iconic Edition.
