Nvidia has officially launched its latest GeForce Game Ready Driver (version 576.40), which delivers full optimisation for Doom: The Dark Ages. The latest entry in Bethesda’s popular franchise is all set to roll out early access on May 14th for Premium Edition buyers. Meanwhile, the game officially releases on May 15 and marks a major graphical leap forward for the Doom franchise with support for ray tracing, DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, and Nvidia Reflex.
Built on id Software’s new id Tech 8 engine, Doom: The Dark Ages promises a brutal medieval war experience, which will now be enhanced for GeForce RTX users. The RTX 20, 30, 40, and 50 Series GPU setups will be able to take advantage of DLSS Super Resolution, DLAA, and the latest transformer-based AI models will ensure exceptional image quality. Further, for RTX 50 owners, DLSS 4 offers up to 4x higher frame rates. Plus, a post-launch update will introduce full path tracing with DLSS Ray Reconstruction, which will further enhance light fidelity.
In addition to Doom: The Dark Ages, Nvidia has also extended DLSS override support in its app for 15 additional titles, which include Warframe, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and Spirit of the North 2. Moreover, the update also includes support for two new Optimal Playable Settings profiles and seven new G-SYNC Compatible gaming monitors.
As part of an ongoing promotional offer, buyers of eligible RTX 50 Series graphics cards or laptops can claim the $99.99 Premium Edition of Doom: The Dark Ages for free until May 21st. This premium edition includes early access, campaign DLC, a digital artbook, soundtrack, and the Divinity Skin Pack for the Slayer, dragon, and Atlan mech.
That being said, we reviewed Doom: The Dark Ages hands-on at Notebookcheck, and we were very impressed with it. The game is about 20 hours long, and we think it was totally worth the 5-year wait. And the fact that it's playable on Steam Deck only makes it more accessible for some on-the-go demon slaying.
