Nokia has released a Limited Edition of its XR21 to celebrate the fact that it now sells smartphones manufactured in Europe. The new version of the rugged Android device has an exclusive colorway and will come with custom engraving. It will also come in a potentially collectable retail box, and will be more expensive than the standard variant.

Nokia has confirmed that a certain number of its 5G smartphones will be assembled in a Hungarian plant going forward. The HMD Global brand has dedicated a new Limited Edition of the XR21 to its improved diversity in terms of manufacturing facilities.

This special-edition smartphone is distinguished by its own rear panel finish - Frosted Platinum with a subtle camo pattern - and new original packaging. However, it seems it will be identical to a standard XR21 otherwise, which should give it a MIL-STD-810H-rated "100% recycled aluminum inner chassis" and an LCD screen driven by the Snapdragon 695 SoC.

Nevertheless, Nokia indicates that this version of the XR21 will be sought after, as each one will be engraved with the legends "LIMITED EDITION x/50" and "MADE IN EUROPE" (although the latter will only reportedly apply to 60% of the ultra-short production run).

The 50 units have been priced at €699.99 each (as opposed to €599 for a base model XR21 at launch) and can be ordered in select countries that include Austria, France and Germany from now.

Alternatively, buy a standard black XR21 on Amazon.com
