A new hardware mod gives the Nintendo Switch Lite long-missing features like HDMI output, OLED display, and a capacitive glass touchscreen. The no-solder design could make it one of the most comprehensive Switch Lite mods demonstrated to date.

Modder and YouTuber Taki Udon has assembled a Nintendo Switch Lite that appears to do what the original never could, output HDMI, run on an OLED display, and register touch through a glass panel. It’s all housed in the original shell with no soldering or open-case compromises, according to Taki. They say this is the first time all three mods have worked together in a fully enclosed build.

The mod, part of Taki Udon’s ongoing Super 5 OLED project, is designed to add a micro HDMI port to the Switch Lite, enabling video and audio output to an external display, a feature Nintendo never included in the original hardware. According to Taki, the build is fully solderless, relying on internal cable routing and precise fitment to make the installation feasible for experienced modders.

OLED and touch mods on the Switch Lite aren’t new, but this build goes a step further, combining both with HDMI-out in a shell that still snaps shut like the original. In the demo, video and audio are routed over HDMI when plugged in. Unplug it, and everything shifts back to the built-in screen and speakers instantly, as shown by Taki.

Taki says this is the first version of the mod that “works as it should,” a clean, fully functional build after years of testing and half-finished prototypes. A more detailed breakdown is on the way via their main channel, and small-batch production might not be far off, they add.

Nintendo never gave the Switch Lite. any form of video-out, but this mod gets it surprisingly close to docked mode, no console swap needed. It’s an unofficial solution, but one that could shift how people use the Lite, especially for those looking to play on a bigger screen.

For a closer look at how it all comes together, you can watch the full demo in the video linked below.
