The Chilean retailer GSMPRO.CL has decided to jump the gun, the hand holding the gun, and the arm of the person holding the gun in regard to Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders. The company has started taking reservations for the console, even though everything that is known about the device so far is based on a couple of Nvidia and LinkedIn-related leaks and a whole host of rumors. Even the product image used for the Switch 2 is a known concept that was created by a YouTuber called eian.
It's worth having a quick look at the page to see just how accurate it could be in comparison to what will be learned when Nintendo finally reveals all about the next-generation Switch console. The Nintendo Switch 2 price is set at 400,000 Chilean Pesos (~US$454), which is an amount similar to the US$449 figure that has been rumored before for a standard model (with a potential digital edition model being cheaper at US$400). Stock is listed as “coming soon” with a delivery date set for “2024”. Any money sent to make a Switch 2 reservation with this retailer will be deducted from the final amount owed.
The description of the Nintendo Switch 2 here will be mostly familiar reading for those who have been following its journey to release: DLSS to soup up the visuals, a T239 processor, and an LCD panel. Interestingly, the T239 chip is described here as being based on Samsung’s 5LPP process, which was a supposed leak that came from Connor (@OreXda). However, a more reliable source has insisted that the part is based on an 8-nanometer process, so GSMPRO might want to update its rumor-based Switch 2 description for this part.
Advanced integrated speakers get a mention as does voice recognition for enhanced gaming. Then there is the requisite comment about Nintendo Switch 2 backwards compatibility: It’s “guaranteed”. It’s a risky stand to make as Nintendo hasn’t revealed a single detail about its next console yet, but this particular claim is based on company CEO Shuntaro Furukawa’s comments about making sure Nintendo Accounts enjoyed a smooth transition between console generations.
