Next Mac Mini touted for upgrade to ray-tracing as well as Apple Intelligence in new leak
The next Mac Mini is thought to debut as anything but just another refresh thanks to an even smaller footprint that exchanges the series' typically clean esthetic for more frontal ports.
It might be touted as even more desktop power in an even smaller package than previously thought, with M4 silicon forecast to launch with NPUs capable of as much as 38 trillion operations per second (TOPS).
At just over 2x that of the preceding M3 platform, that could be touted as the performance necessary to convert 2024's Mac Mini into a first-gen Apple Intelligence PC.
The tiny desktop might have yet another surprise, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman: series-first ray-tracing thanks to its 10-core GPU. Accordingly, the next Mac Mini might be introduced as the ultimate all-round desktop for the home as soon as tomorrow (October 28, 2024.)
Then again, that could make Apple's smallest new PC exceptionally pricey for its size, particularly as its 32GB M2 Pro predecessor remains at $1,832.99 on Amazon right now.
