Anbernic RG P01 to undercut 8BitDo Ultimate 2C rival this week with Hall effect joysticks and triggers for under $15
Anbernic now confirmed release date for first controller, which will arrive as its second product launch of the month after RG CubeXX. For reference, confirmation of the RG P01's arrival has surfaced under a fortnight after Anbernic revealed the device's core specifications. Launching pricing for the RG P01 is now official, too.
According to RetroHandhelds, Anbernic's first controller will be available for just $14.99 before rising to $17.99 after pre-orders begin shipping on November 12. In other words, this pricing would see the RG P01 vastly undercutting the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C (curr. $29.99 on Amazon) with Bluetooth and wireless connectivity. Please note that the Ultimate 2C's wired variant retails for $19.99, $10 less than its wireless counterpart.
Like the Ultimate 2C, the RG P01 has Hall effect joysticks and triggers. Based on RetroHandhelds' review, the RG P01 does not suffer from cardinal snapping like some recent Anbernic gaming handhelds. Added to that, the RG P01 has two rear-mounted M1 and M2 buttons, unlike the Ultimate 2C. Currently, Anbernic intends to release the RG P01 at 10:00 UTC on October 29. As always, Anbernic will offer its latest release through AliExpress and its website, the links for which are not yet live.
