NexDock has finally confirmed that it has stock of its 6th-generation NexDock laptop dock or lap dock. Arriving over two and half years after the NexDock XL, the new NexDock does away with the XL's convertible design and wireless connectivity. Nonetheless, the NexDock 6 promises to surpass its predecessors in several areas.
In short, one of the biggest changes is a better trackpad. Arguably a weak point of all but the HP Elite X3 Lap Dock, most laptop docks' trackpads deliver woeful palm rejection and poor mechanical mouse clicks. Allegedly, the NexDock improves in all these areas while also supporting two- and three-finger gestures across SteamOS, Linux, Windows and Android desktop modes on devices like the Galaxy S25 Ultra (curr. $1,099 on Amazon).
Early reviews indicate that the new trackpad is a success, as is the revised 14-inch touchscreen display. Outputting at 1,920 x 1,200 pixels in a 16:10 aspect ratio, the new display also provides 400 nits peak brightness with 100% sRGB colour space coverage. Unfortunately, a fixed 60 Hz refresh rate remains, though.
Setting that aside, the NexDock 6 contains superior 2 W speakers too, plus a 38 Wh battery that should last around 6–7 hours and can recharge devices at 5 V/2 A. Moreover, the new laptop dock will provide power to a connected device even when switched off, albeit only when connected to power itself. The NexDock 6 retails for $229 plus shipping to over 30 countries. Please see NexDock's website for more details.
