Leaker Abhishek Yadav has shared new information about one of Xiaomi's forthcoming mid-range Poco smartphones. For context, recent rumours indicate that Xiaomi may skip over replacing the Poco F7 or Poco X7 (curr. $282.99 on Amazon).
Instead, the company is rumoured to be slimming down its Poco series after unexpectedly launching the Poco F8 Pro and Poco F8 Ultra last month. While the Poco F8 pair arrived sooner than anticipated, Yadav believes that a successor to the Poco M7 Pro 5G is slightly behind schedule.
Writing on X, the leaker reports that the Poco M8 Pro 5G is not set to launch until the new year. Specifically, Yadav asserts that the device will not be ready until January. Full launch details remain unknown for now.
However, Yadav reiterates that the Poco M8 Pro 5G is essentially a re-branded global Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus with a 6.83-inch AMOLED display, a 6,500 mAh battery supported by 100 W charging and a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset. The Poco M8 Pro 5G is expected to feature a 50 MP primary camera though, possibly the f/1.6 and 1/1.55-inch sensor used in the original Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus sold in China.
