Details of a new budget Samsung tablet have leaked online. Likely a new version of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, the unreleased tablet is set to launch running Android 14, a Samsung Exynos chipset and a choice between Wi-Fi or LTE connectivity.

More information about a possible new Galaxy Tab S6 Lite refresh has emerged online. To recap, Roland Quandt asserted last week that Samsung was preparing not only a Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) but also a Galaxy Watch4 (2024). While the leaker elected against specifications for either device, it appears that the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) has already passed through Geekbench on four occasions.

As always, the benchmarking platform does not refer to the tablet by its retail name. Instead, all Geekbench listings report the model as being the 'samsung SM-P620'. On the one hand, this model number falls within the range of previous Galaxy Tab S6 Lite model numbers, with Samsung assigned SM-P610 and SM-P615 to Wi-Fi and LTE versions, respectively, of the original Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. Meanwhile, SM-P613 and SM-P619 model numbers apply to the newer Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) (curr. $199.99 on Amazon).

On the other hand, GSMChina has shared evidence of model numbers SM-P625 and SM-P627 being tied to the retail name 'Galaxy Tab S6 LITE 2024', likely stylised as Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024). Considering these model numbers on IMEI databases, it should follow that both apply to LTE SKUs, with GSMChina adding that SM-P627 is a Turkish regional variant. As such, the SM-P620 should relate to the Wi-Fi version of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) that Samsung will sell globally.

According to Geekbench, the SM-P620 runs Android 14 with 4 GB of RAM and relies upon 's5e8825', a codename for the Exynos 1280 chipset. Correspondingly, all benchmarks report the device as featuring an octa-core chipset with two clusters split into six efficiency cores and two performance cores. Although nearly two years old, the Exynos 1280 in the SM-P620 helps it outperform the chipsets with which Samsung offered the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022).

For reference, the Exynos 1280 is about 20% faster in our benchmarks than the Snapdragon 720G or Snapdragon 732G. Moreover, the Exynos 1280's advantage grows to nearly 50% over the Exynos 9611 that powers the original Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. Other Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) details remain unknown for now though, including a release date and whether it will feature any design changes from either of its predecessors.
