New Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake footage shows a rebuilt Zora's domain

Nintendo, via the official Japanese Zelda account on X, has released new footage of its Ocarina of Time remake showing Zora's Domain, along with the first look at underwater swimming in the game.

The footage shows young Link entering Zora's Domain and climbing its winding stairs past a series of waterfalls in a version of the area that Nintendo has expanded and rebuilt in HD. Link then dives into the water, and the camera pans beneath the surface to follow him. Nintendo's post describes the area as the beautiful waterside home of the Zora, where clear water flows.

Swimming and diving underwater is one of three new movement mechanics in the remake, alongside rolling into a sprint and a dedicated jump button. In the 1998 original, Link could only make short dives from the surface. The clip follows footage of Goron City on Death Mountain, which Nintendo shared earlier as part of a run of gameplay videos on its social media accounts.

Nintendo has also been publishing remake updates on its Japanese website that have not appeared on the North American site. The Japanese site now hosts a gallery of HD character renders and screenshots taken directly from the game that did not feature in the trailers or the Nintendo Direct.

Other additions include an option to hum or play ocarina songs into the Switch 2 microphone instead of using button sequences, fully voiced cutscenes, and an orchestral score that replaces the original MIDI audio. Players can also walk straight into many shops and indoor areas without a loading transition, and the game integrates with the Zelda Notes app.

The remake launches exclusively on Switch 2 on 5 November. The digital edition costs $59.99, while a limited physical edition with textured foil cover art costs $69.99. The release lands two weeks before GTA 6, which arrives on 19 November.

A Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 console arrives on 29 October alongside matching Pro Controllers. Hori is also making an electric ocarina that works with the game's microphone feature, and Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo due in 2027 will unlock retro-style masks in the remake, 25YL reported.
