Fans have been eagerly waiting for the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake on November 5. With less than a month left, previews have started coming in, and they bring good news for those who’ve experienced the game originally and for newcomers.

With less than a month left for the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, previews have finally started showing up. Turns out the expected October 14 embargo date was accurate, and IGN has posted their preview of the game, revealing some interesting details.

Key among them is that the remake is not exactly a 1:1 remake. IGN’s Logan Plant notes that certain dialogues have been expanded, puzzles have been revamped, structural changes have been made, among other changes. Of course, the updated combat and detailed art style make The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake feel like a modern game. Additionally, Switch 2 gamers will be excited to learn that the game runs at a “crisp 60 fps.”

Rays of light poke through the trees; moss and mushrooms thrive on the withered bark; our hero’s tunic is decorated with handwoven flourishes – and it’s all running at a crisp 60 fps. A pleasant musical performance recreates the forest’s original MIDI theme with what sounds like just a handful of real musicians. Hyrule has never felt more intimately realized than this.

It should be noted that the author did not specify if this was in handheld or docked mode.

Plant adds that the challenge to reach the Kokiri Sword has been overhauled, and it changes the way players will approach this room. Link’s movements feel similar to Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, yet the classic Zelda design is maintained. There are several other areas where Nintendo has made some interesting changes, so it seems like players who have played the original will have new features to discover.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake releases on November 5 on the Nintendo Switch 2.
